B1 English Reading – Short Story & Grammar Quiz
Detective Brown was keen to solve the mystery. The latest case was strange: a valuable key was missing from the local laboratory. The building was located near the mall. Brown knew he had to find who took it.
First, he decided to interview the managers. He also wanted to check the entrance for any mud prints. While looking, he noticed a tiny label on the floor. It was from a new, unusual liquid product. “This might be a clue,” he thought, carefully picking it up.
He went back to the lab. The head scientist, Dr. Green, looked mad. “We must find that key! It leads to a mine of rare metals!” she exclaimed. Brown thought, “I would rather work quietly on this.” He asked Dr. Green to let him examine the lab more closely. His intuition told him finding the thief would be difficult, but not impossible. The investigation was beginning to get interesting.
