B2 English Reading – Short Story & Grammar Quiz
Lily planned a hiking trip to the mountains that was arguably the most exciting adventure she’d ever organized. She felt a little anxious beforehand, but also incredibly excited to gain new experiences. Her last short holiday was far less adventurous than this upcoming journey. She packed her bag carefully. None of her closest friends could accompany her this time, due to their own work obligations.
When she finally arrived at the base, the mountain air felt by far the freshest she’d ever breathed. She began her ascent. The higher she climbed, the more amazing the views became. She discovered a small, hidden waterfall. Its clear water was the same as the pure spring water she remembered from her childhood.
She found an old, seemingly abandoned hut on her path, but she decided not to change her plans to reach the very top. Neither tired legs nor the growing chill could now prevent her. She felt she had to complete her personal goal. She knew she could stand any difficulty. She enjoyed both the physical challenge and the absolute beauty around her. When she reached the peak, the sense of accomplishment was apparent, bringing a wave of joy.
