B1 English Reading – Short Story & Grammar Quiz
Clara has been working on a simple, automatic plant waterer for her apartment for months. Before this project, she had always forgotten to water her plants, and they had frequently dried out. She had gathered many ideas from online forums and had started several small experiments in her kitchen. This time, she feels sure of success. She hopes her invention will keep her plants healthy.
Last week, a small pump stopped working. She was feeling very annoyed because she knew she had bought a cheap model. If she had used a better quality pump, this problem would not have come up. She had tried to fix it for hours, but it was not functioning properly. She feared she would have to start all over again, which would be a waste of time.
However, Clara is not a quitter. She has already found an alternative, stronger pump and has ordered it online. By the end of next month, she will have completed the final version of her plant waterer. She is looking forward to presenting it to her friends. She will have spent over two months on this project by then, and she will be so glad to see it finished.
