B1 English Reading – Short Story & Vocabulary Quiz
The old lighthouse had stood on the cliff for centuries. Lately, strange lights had been seen near its entrance. The villagers were a bit worried, especially since a thick fog had rolled in, making the sea even more mysterious. A young, professional photographer, Leo, decided to investigate. He wanted to capture the strange phenomenon on his digital camera.
He arrived at the lighthouse just as the sun was setting. The silence was almost absolute, broken only by the gentle breeze and the distant sound of waves. He turned on his camera, adjusting the settings correctly. He waited patiently. The fog made it hard to see exactly what was happening. He hoped the lights would appear.
Suddenly, a bright, green stripe appeared in the sky, stretching across the fog. It was an incredible sight. Leo absolutely admired it. He quickly took several photos. He knew these pictures would be unique. He didn’t understand exactly what the light was, but it was certainly not dangerous. He felt completely safe. He stayed until the light was gone. He was sure these photos would change his career.
